Overview

This private safari offers you the opportunity to visit Southern National parks (Mikumi NP, Nyerere NP, and Ruaha NP). After the safari in the wild, you will fly to Zanzibar Island for a beach holiday experience. In Zanzibar, you will visit the old stone town, and spice farms and later transfer to Matemwe Beach which is located on the North East Coast of Zanzibar Island.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Dar-es-Salam city Transfer to a Hotel In Dar es Salaam.

We pick you up from the airport and transfer to a hotel for sleep/rest.

Day 2Dar es Salaam– Morogoro

Leave Dar es Salaam at 6:30 am with a packed breakfast- heading to Morogoro. Arrive at Simbamwenni Lodge. You will have lunch, swim and rest. Later on, you will head for a drive to see the city, and market, and also you have the opportunity to hike in the Uluguru Mountains. You will be able to walk through villages and engage with local people. Today will be on you to decide what you want to see in Morogoro town. Later you return to Simbamwenni Lodge for a bath, dinner, and sleep.

Day 3Transfer to Mikumi National Park for a Whole Day Game Drive

At arrival, you will go straight for a game drive till sunset. In the park, you will see herds of elephants, a pride of Lions, Wild dog, a dazzle of Zebras, Giraffes, and more than 300 species of birds. You will also have a chance to see the wildlife in their natural settings.  Some of the prominent features you will see are the man-made hippo pools filled with a large group of hippos swimming, elephants and their calves drinking from the pool, and having a mud bath to cool their body. This scenery is worth seeing. Lunch will be offered at the restaurant in the park. In the evening you will head to your lodge for a hot bath and dinner.

Day 4Ruaha National park Game drive

Rise up early at 6:00 am with a packed breakfast heading to Ruaha NP, Tanzania’s largest National Park. This park is the largest park in East Africa and is known of its rich flora and fauna. It is also a home of elephant populations, with an estimated 12,000 elephants migrating through the greater Ruaha ecosystem each year. You will arrive at the park where you will have lunch and relax. Then continue with late afternoon game drive till sunset and return to the lodge. Your guide/driver will join you for dinner (if you request), chit-chat about your day, and plan for the next day.

Day 5Ruaha National Park to Mikumi NP.

Early morning, at 6:00 am- Go for a sunset game drive from 8:30 am to 9:00 am- head to the restaurant for breakfast. After breakfast, exit Ruaha NP (with packed lunch) heading to the Isimila Stone Age tour. This is one of the world’s most significant archaeological discoveries. Among the glorious landscape of eroded sandstone, Stone Age tools were unearthed in the late 1950s. Hammerstones, axeheads, flints, and scrapers thought to be up to a hundred thousand years old were found. Enjoy lunch and then head to Mikumi for overnight.

Day 6Udzungwa Mountain Forest

After breakfast, leave the hotel with packed lunch heading to Udzungwa Mountain Forest. This park is the second largest biodiversity National Park in Africa and is located in Morogoro Region.  This is a walking-only park in terms of access. There are no roads for tour cars here At the Udzungwa waterfalls, one can enjoy hiking and swimming. You will hike along the Sonjo trail which leads to two waterfalls. Hiking along the Miombo vegetation where some rare primates spend most of their day. Sanje Circuit with 3 waterfalls trials endowed with butterflies, primates, and birds along the lush vegetation. You will get an opportunity to see about 10 species of primates that inhabit this park in which four of which cannot be seen elsewhere in the entire World. Others are Sanje Crested Mangabey and the Iringa Red Colobus Monkey. Furthermore over 400 species can be seen. You will swim in the waterfalls, take a break and enjoy your packed lunch. If we have more time, you can visit Masai village in the evening for a cultural tour. This tour is very different and enjoyable. You will be able to see and learn the Masai culture, dances, eating habits, hunting habits, and techniques.

Day 7Nyerere National Park( also known as Selous Game Reserve)- Boat Safari

The trip to Nyerere NP will start at 6am with packed lunch box. It will take almost 5 hours drive to arrive the park. This Park is popular because is the home to some of Africa’s best walking safaris, boat safaris and fly camping trips and has the great diversity of safari activities. In the afternoon, you will do a boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. It is unforgettable experience to see the Rufiji River by boat, encounter hippos and crocodiles in good numbers. You will also see almost 350 bird species that have been recorded in the Selous Game Reserve. These are typical of Miombo woodlands, and the bird life supported by Rufiji swamp-lands is of particular interest. Later evening you will return to your lodge Dinner and sleep.

Day 8Full Day Game Drive in Nyerere National Park.

After breakfast, you head for a game drive till sunset with a packed lunch box. Today you will be able to see and experience the authenticity and beauty of African wildlife. Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa, covering 54,600 square kilometers. Because the reserve is famous for its a large number of elephants, so you will see many of them. You will also see lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras, and greater kudu. Our 4×4 vehicles safari cars will allow you to have good photographic activities and the chance to explore different sections of the park. At noon, you will have a picnic lunch break where your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink – a place with a clear view all round so that no predator can creep up unseen!

Day 9Walk Safari (Optional) - Drive to Dar –es- salaam/Transfer to Port for Zanzibar.

This walk is optional, for people who want to take a morning walk in Selous. Walks are slow-paced, accompanied by both an armed ranger and our expert guide, and are around 2 hours long. You will leave the camp at 6.00 am for a walking safari. Our drive will drive you to the entrance gate of the Selous NP where you will meet an armed ranger and begin the walk. During the walk, you can get closer to nature and learn more about the small species and the bush itself. It’s an unforgettable experience to walk within such a vast and untamed area of the natural reserve. Although you may spot some giraffes or walk in the footsteps of elephants, our walking safaris are tailored to give you the opportunity to learn about the things you missed during the game drive or boat safari- the ecosystem that the animals live in. You will learn to identify animal tracks and signs and hear fascinating information about the insects, trees and colorful bird life.
