From Dar es Salaam
Escape the city and fly directly into the wilderness for a seamless 3-day safari experience in Mikumi National Park.
Avoid the 5–6 hour road transfer and maximise your time in the bush with a short scenic flight from Dar es Salaam. Mikumi, Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park, lies between the Uluguru and Udzungwa Mountains and is known for its open savannah landscapes and excellent wildlife visibility.
This itinerary is ideal for travellers seeking a short, comfortable safari without long driving distances.
Morning transfer to the airport for your scheduled flight to Mikumi. The journey takes approximately 1 hour.
Upon arrival at the airstrip, you will be met by your professional safari guide and begin your first game drive en route to your lodge.
Mikumi’s open plains — particularly the Mkata Floodplain — offer excellent wildlife viewing. Expect to see buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and impala, often accompanied by giraffe and elephant moving between water sources.
Lunch will be served at your lodge.
In the late afternoon, enjoy a second game drive as wildlife becomes more active before sunset.

After an early breakfast, depart for a full-day safari with picnic lunch.
This day is dedicated to exploring different areas of the park in search of predators and special species. Mikumi is known for its resident lion prides, and although sightings are never guaranteed, the open terrain improves your chances. Leopard sightings are possible but more elusive.
You will also visit the hippo pools, home to large pods of hippos and Nile crocodiles.
Mikumi is particularly interesting for species such as:
