13 Days Kenya & Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Day 1

NAIROBI / MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE

Pick up at the hotel at around 0700hrs and depart for Kenya’s famous game reserve. You start the day venturing through the Great Rift Valley travelling to the northernmost extension of the Serengeti Plains and one of the richest wildlife Game Reserves, the Masai Mara. The Mara is home to the awesome, black-manned lion, the elusive leopard, stately giraffes, vast herds of elephants, rhino, thundering herds of zebra, migrating wildebeest and numerous other plains game. You arrive at the lodge/camp for lunch. After lunch depart for an afternoon game-viewing drive. Enjoy dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 2 & 3

FULL DAY IN MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE

A full day’s safari in one of the world’s most famous reserves, offering an abundance of herbivores, the Mara makes the ideal hunting ground for Kenya’s famous ‘big cats’ and hosts her largest population of lions. Historically teeming with wildlife, the Mara is famous for the large herds of elephant and buffalo that wander its plains, and for the annual migration of the wildebeest.

Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a Hot Air Balloon provided at extra cost. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild! If you can spare the money, viewing an abundant game afloat a balloon is an unforgettable experience. Alternatively visit a Masai village and learn the Masai culture at an extra cost.

Day 4

MASAI MARA/ ISEBANIA BORDER/ SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Early breakfast in the morning whereby you will drive out (With Packed lunch boxes) with sunrise game en-route on your way to Isebania border to arrive at around 1200hrs, where you will present your passports for entry into Tanzania. You will be transfer to Northern Serengeti(Kongatende),

With en-rout game drive to your accommodation.

Day 5 & 6

GAME DRIVE IN SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Observation of migration activities in the Serengeti NP.

Your tour guide will be driving you to various Serengeti locations where the wildebeest migration is dense throughout the next four days. Your tour guide will have the most recent, precise information when deciding where to take you to watch the wildebeest migration in action.Take advantage of the opportunity to observe wildlife on the huge Serengeti plains, where you can come across a migration of more than 1 million animals. Additionally, they draw the attention of cheetahs and hyenas, and you might witness a pride of lions band together for a hunt. You will have the chance to watch the Big Five here.

After the day is finished, your guide will drop you off at your place of overnight lodging. If you’d like, the guide can join you for dinner to go over the itinerary for the next day and to answer any questions you may have.

Day 7

HALF DAY SERENGETI GAME DRIVE- TRANSFER TO NGORONGORO CRATER OVERNIGHT

After breakfast, you will go for a half day game drive in the Serengeti National Park. You will spend half of the day game driving, and enjoy the beautiful nature full with different animals. Later afternoon, you will exit the Serengeti NP, and head to Ngorongoro, where you will be dropped at your accommodation inside the park for rest/leisure.

Day 8

NGORONGORO CRATER GAME DRIVE AND WALKING SAFARIS

After breakfast, you will enter the crater via Olduvai George, a prehistoric site. Next, you’ll enter Ngorongoro Conservation Area before descending 600 meters into this beautiful crater for a half-day wildlife drive.

Animals you will see:

A wide range of creatures here, including herds of wildebeest, eland, warthogs, hippopotamuses, and enormous African elephants. The chance to view predators like lions, hyenas, jackals, bat-eared foxes, cheetahs, and leopards is another perk. And you’ll see a rhinoceros in addition. On the crater bottom, zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, and buffalo herds are common, and Grant’s gazelles can be found on the wide plains.

Your tour guide will give a brief explanation of different species as well as a historical account of the Ngorongoro crater. You will break for lunch.

Walk Safari:

Later on, you will exit the crater and go to meet your armed ranger who will accompany you for a 2 to 3 hours walk. You will begin walking through the forest and go around the crater rim, and this will give you an opportunity to see and enjoy the breathtaking view of the area. The walk is refreshing and allow you to reconnect to the nature/environment as you move on foot exploring Savannah plains of Ngorongoro.

After the walk, your guide/driver will pick you up and drive you to Karatu overnight.

Day 9

KARATU /ARUSHA/NAMANGA BORDER/AMBOSELI N. PARK

After an early breakfast in the morning, you will drive to Amboseli park, we check out and drive to Kenya via Namanga border post where you present your passports for immigration procedures then after you will make your way to Amboseli park for some game drives before arriving at your lodge for some relaxing followed by dinner and overnight.

Day 10

FULL DAY IN AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Full day game drives at the park, which is an International Biosphere Reserve featuring the dried-out lakebed of prehistoric Lake Amboseli, rolling savannah and lush green swamps. The plains offer numerous antelopes, spotted hyenas, jackals, warthogs, olive baboons, vervet monkeys and the chance of spotting a lion, leopard or cheetah. Observation Hill, a conical peak, which is easily climbed, offers stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at the lodge / Camp.

Day 11

AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK / TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast at the lodge. Proceed to Tsavo west national park to arrive in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive.

From the sight of fifty million gallons of crystal clear water gushing out of from the under parched lava rock that is the Mzima Springs to the Shetani lava flows, Tsavo West is a beautiful, rugged wilderness. The savannah ecosystem comprises of open grasslands, scrublands, and Acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation and rocky ridges including the Poacher’s Lookout where visitors can see the teeming herds in the plains below. Tsavo West offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world and attractions include elephant, rhino, Hippos, lions, cheetah, leopards, Buffalos, diverse plant and bird species including the threatened corncrake and near threatened Basra Reed Warbler.

Day 12

FULL DAY TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK OR DRIVE TO TAITA HILLS WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Full day at Tsavo west National Park or We can also opt to do a morning drive game at Tsavo west national park come back to the lodge for breakfast. Check out and drive to the adjacent Taita hill wildlife sanctuary. You will have Lunch at Taita Hills Resort before embarking on a game drive enroute to salt lick lodge.

Attached to the Building is an underground tunnel and bunker with the ground level windows that provides unbelievably close, yet safe access to variety of animals as they frequent the waterhole for water & salt licks.

You can opt to check in at Salt Lick Lodge first and then have an Afternoon game drive in the sanctuary and you will be back to the Lodge by 1800 hrs.

Day 13

TAITA HILLS WILDLIFE / MOMBASA

This morning we enjoy breakfast then check-out. Unbelievable but true, our good bush moments have come to an end. We bid farewell to our wonderful lodge manager and his team then depart to Mombasa. Not empty handed though. With us are photographs – a capture of the special moments we have had on this tour to immortalise the experience.

Your driver guide will meet you at the lobby and after packing all your bags in the customized safari Land Cruiser, depart Taita Hills with a game en-route. Drive to Mombasa to arrive in the afternoon drop off at your preferred location.

Say good bye to the wonderful country and promise to join us on another expedition
