3-Day Mikumi National Park Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Morogoro – Mikumi National Park
Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel, residence, or another preferred location in Dar es Salaam. Travel west in a comfortable, air-conditioned safari vehicle, passing through the scenic landscapes, rolling hills, and bustling towns of eastern Tanzania on your journey to Mikumi National Park.
Stop in Morogoro for lunch before continuing to the park. Upon arrival, transfer to your 4×4 safari vehicle and head straight into Mikumi National Park for an afternoon game drive.
Often referred to as one of Tanzania's most accessible wildlife destinations, Mikumi's open plains provide excellent opportunities to spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, and a variety of antelope. With a little luck, you may also encounter lions resting beneath acacia trees. The park is equally rewarding for bird enthusiasts, with numerous species inhabiting its grasslands, woodlands, and wetlands.
As the sun begins to set, leave the park and continue to your lodge for check-in, dinner, and a relaxing overnight stay.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park

After an early breakfast at your lodge, depart for a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park, giving you ample time to explore the park's diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife.

Mikumi's expansive Mkata Floodplain, often compared to the Serengeti for its open grasslands, offers excellent wildlife viewing throughout the year. Accompanied by your professional safari guide, you'll explore different areas of the park in search of elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, and several species of antelope. With a little luck, you may also encounter lions resting beneath acacia trees, while hippos and crocodiles can often be seen around the park's waterholes. Bird enthusiasts will also enjoy the opportunity to spot a variety of colourful resident and migratory species.

Enjoy a picnic lunch or lunch at the park restaurant before continuing your afternoon game drive, making the most of your time in one of Tanzania's most rewarding wildlife destinations.

In the late afternoon, return to your lodge to relax before dinner and your second overnight stay.

Day 3: Mikumi National Park – Morogoro – Dar es Salaam
After breakfast at your lodge, check out and begin your scenic journey back to Dar es Salaam in a comfortable, air-conditioned safari vehicle.
Relax and enjoy the changing landscapes as you travel through the heart of eastern Tanzania, passing rural villages, fertile farmlands, and the impressive Uluguru Mountains near Morogoro. Along the way, stop for lunch before continuing your journey to the coast.
Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be dropped off at your hotel, Julius Nyerere International Airport, or the ferry terminal for your onward journey to Zanzibar.
