4 DAY SAFARI GOMBE NATIONAL PARK, TANZANIA Itinerary

Day 1

Dar es Salaam ✈ Kigoma → Gombe National Park

• Morning Flight: Depart Dar es Salaam on a direct flight to Kigoma (approx. 2 hrs 20 mins).
• Arrival in Kigoma: Meet your driver-guide for a short transfer to the lakeshore.
• Boat Transfer to Gombe: Cross the sparkling waters of Lake Tanganyika on a private boat (1.5–3 hrs depending on vessel).
• Afternoon Activities:
o Check in to your lodge and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch.
o Relax on the beach, take a swim, or simply unwind with the stunning lake views.
o At 3:00 pm, set out on a short hike to a scenic forest waterfall, with the chance to spot primates along the way.
• Evening: Early dinner and a briefing with your guide in preparation for the next day’s trek.

Day 2

Chimpanzee Trekking in Gombe Forest

• 07:00 am: Breakfast at the lodge before heading to the park headquarters for registration.
• Chimpanzee Trek: Accompanied by an expert guide, venture deep into the lush forest in search of Gombe’s world-famous chimpanzees.
o The trek involves hiking on steep slopes and rugged ridges — proper hiking shoes are essential.
o Learn about the chimpanzee families first studied by Dr. Jane Goodall in the 1960s.
o Along the way, keep an eye out for red colobus monkeys, baboons, colorful birds, butterflies, and rare forest flora.
• Afternoon: Return to your lodge for lunch and a well-earned rest. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax by the lake or enjoy light walks.

Day 3

Chimpanzee Trekking in Gombe Forest

After an early breakfast at 07:30 am, set out for a full day chimpanzee trekking adventure in Gombe National Park. Along the way, enjoy sightings of baboons, colorful birdlife, and other forest attractions. Return to camp around 1:00 pm for lunch and some time to relax. In the afternoon, you may swim in the crystal-clear waters of Lake Tanganyika, before dinner and an overnight stay at Kasekela Bandas or room.

Day 4

Optional Morning Walk → Return to Kigoma → Dar es Salaam

• Start the day with an optional short forest walk or a refreshing swim in the clear waters of Lake Tanganyika.
• Mid-morning, board your boat back to Kigoma for your transfer to the airport.
• Afternoon or evening flight to Dar es Salaam, arriving with unforgettable memories of your Gombe adventure.
